In honor of the Presidential Inauguration on Tuesday January 20, Khanna Institute of LASIK Surgery is offering free LASIK surgery to any US Citizen named “Barack Hussein Obama”. “This is a historic moment in american and world history” says Dr. Khanna. “I can relate to the emotions that President Elect Obama must be experiencing. My father was also a non US citizen.”  Dr. Khanna has helped people with lazy eyes stimulate their vision by performing LASIK on them. Khanna Institute is celebrating this historic moment of change by wanting to change the dependence of people on visual aids. LASIK has been shown to safer than wearing contact lenses. This free offer will have to be redeemed by Jan 31, 2009. A birth certificate will need to be provided in order to verify the name and citizenship. The person will have to be a suitable candidate for LASIK.

I got this one, as well. What a cheap grab at publicity.

I thought about keeping a list of things like this, but Charles Blow of the New York Times already has a post about this very topic.

From my own neighborhood in Queens, there’s another inauguration special going on—actually, it’s more of a farewell to the outgoing administration. A day spa is offering—I kid you not—reduced prices on bikini waxing under the name “Say Goodbye to Bush.”
