It’s raining outside here in San Francisco, but on the inside of the Moscone Center, big, white, fluffy cumulous clouds are blocking any precipitation from harming attendees at Salesforce.com’s Dreamforce event. “There’s electicity in the cloud,” reads a sign in the keynote ballroom as tunes to the liking of the Rolling Stones’ “Get Off My Cloud,” pump out of the mega-speakers.
On Friday I had the opportunity to be briefed by Salesforce.com’s vice president of marketing, Kendall Collins on a big announcement that will be made this morning about Force.com’s expansion towards Web sites. (Stay tuned for a more detailed destinationCRM daily news story.) Collins told me that this will be the most shocking, exciting Dreamforce keynote to date, adding that it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary if there are several “surprise guests.” At last year’s keynote, Star Wars creator George Lucas surprised attendees in a laser-ific keynote presentation. The previous year, Secretary of State Colin Powell took the stage. Who will it be this year? Neil Young is o
n the roster — to speak? Sing? We shall see.
The keynote is set to start… A smoke machine is now making it a little hard for me to see the stage — Cloudy, if you will. I’ll be twittering the event, http://twitter.com/laurenmizzou.
Benioff now taking the stage.
